Man the pier was packed yesterday! I got lucky and got a spot right across from the bait house. Got there at 2 and the tide was still incoming, it was supposed to change at 4ish. Whitebait was easy to come by, not as many pinfish though. The mackerel bite was good at first, hitting shrimp and whitebait. I took home 2, one 16" and one 19". I was a little rusty and forgot the golden rule of mackerel fishing "NO SWIVELS!" I had a real nice one on a whitebait and another one cut me off at my swivel. When the tide changed I started throwing my bigger whitebaits and whatever pinfish I had out on a fishfinder rig. You couldnt really freeline cuz it was way too crowded. Got hammered on a whitebait and he got off after tearing my leader all to crap. Next cast threw a grunt out and not 5 mins later landed a 18" gag (my first at the pier). About an hour or so after the tide turned the bite shutdown. The tide was ripping through super hard. How did you guys do?

Thanks for the report. Use black swivels, they dont seem to go after them as much as the brass ones.

if your feeling crafty use a uni to uni knot for line and leader attachment. Very easy and diagramed on most power pro boxes
