Went kayak fishing today at Ft D with 2 other members of the Hard Core Kayak Anglers. I only got one nice trout on topwater, and had another really good hit and miss blow up. Ridgeback got 3 reds on topwater, Chris K got a trout. Going again tomorrow with member Ultralight joining us. Hoping we will do better tomorrow.........will report again. - David

You know Palmetto I think about doing that every time I go to the piers but Ive never stopped and done it. I actually saw a Tarpon roll one morning when I was driving up the road to the booth on the North pier. Do you use lures or bait?

Well, got to the south pier around 7:00 or so myself... fished a spot about halfway to the bait shop for a little while. I managed to sabiki a handful of greenbacks and catch the same bloody catfish like 5 times That, and caught a heapin' dose of Murphy's law... ran off for literally 1 minute to go to the bathroom, I get back, and my sabiki rod had its line snapped. I guess it hooked some bait and something came along and decided to eat it... must have been a decently powerful fish, it snapped my 40# power pro. Moved on after that to go grab a drink and a crappy sandwich and fished around the bait store for a while. Aside from some stolen or lost greenies, didn't catch squat there. And by about 1am or so it was so windy trying to cast in any direction other than straight down was sort of pointless. Ah well, there's always next time...

Never made it to the piers but we did make it out to the Weedon Island area.Fished from 8:00 until about 2:30. Not much happening early on other than 1 red, 1 snook and 1 bonnethead shark. Went looking for some snapper and got cut off by something nice before getting a nice 3 pound jack and then a small black sea bass. Moved back inshore again around 2:00 and headed over by the power plant. Found about 30 - 40 snook stacked up along the shore and proceeded to hook up on 3 straight casts before we spooked the school. Right before we pulled anchor I hooked up with a big beastie that ended up breaking off. Nice ending to an otherwise hot and steamy day.
