Well the kids wanted to go out last night and do some fishing so we headed on out to the Skyway to see if we could scare up some fish. We arrived at the north side pier at about 11:30 and the pier was packed. We found ourselves a spot by the baithouse (which luckily had a nice rock pile) and set up shop to catch the last couple hours on the outgoing tide. The snapper decided they were hungry and were hitting everything we threw out; shrimp, squid and greenbacks. We probably caught about 2 dozen Mangos all together with most of them being in the 8-9 inch range. We had a few that were right at 10" but we tossed them back to grow bigger. Mixed in with the snapper were about a dozen or so small grouper, most being 6-8" and one 12" little beastie. of course we caught the usual skyway pinfish and about 5 or 6 Vermillion snapper that couldn't have been bigger than 6". Flipper even put in an appearance for a midnight snack and ate a small snapper my son had on his line. We ended up leaving at about 3:00 am just after the incoming tide was starting. It was a fun night for the kids and an expensive night for my tackle box. ;D
