I'm up here in the panhandle visiting the family and thought I'd drop a line and pass some info on pier fishing up here. Kings, spanish, and blues are being caught on the Okaloosa and Pensacola piers. I caught a couple of white trout, a sheep head, and 19 inch red fishing under the Navarre Beach bridge on Tuesday. Used shrimp and fed most to the pin fish. Construction has started on the new Navarre Beach Pier. They expect its completion in May 10...just in time for Kings. Here are some specifics: Deck Height - 30 ft above water 32,000 square feet of usable surface Length - 1,500 feet out into the gulf Two fresh water spigots Here's a good web site that has all sorts of pier fishing info in case your up in this neck of the woods: www.emeraldcoastpierfishing.com. Sorry for the confusion. Construction should be complete May 2010.
In the interim, if you're in the Panhandle there's Okaloosa and Pensacola. I prefer the Okaloosa pier.
