Its probably not the line.
1. Line to loose on the spool
2. To much line on spool
3. To light a lure
4. Close bail before hitting water
5. Check old posts on Wind knots

Jab, I meant you will get less wind knots if you do close the bail before hitting the water. Just because it was spooled tight when the line was first out on, doesn't mean it is staying tight. If you get a break off and just reel it in without putting tension on it, then it will be loose on the reel. Look at it this way, is the weight of the bait or lure taking the line off the spool or is the line coming off on its own?

I have also heard that the spool can make a difference...something about the lip of the spool or size of the spool. Might have been a SuperCaster or something like that

jab, the 20lb will do better than the 15. it could be the reel/spool.i got a mitchell that gets a knot every cast. i also think the position of the lower guide could be a factor.( i havent proven that yet) is your line twisted? are you wipping the cast as hard as u can?it seems like thats when my knots appear. try to look down at the line and flip the bail over by hand.
if you wanna try a different line then go with the crystal in a 14lb. that line will rarely get a knot. i had it on for about a year and cant remember a single tangle. the downfall to that line is when it gets older it starts to flatten out , and wont be as round .

I also tried the power pro braided line... I think it is a bit prone to knots than regular mono lines...

I think its the balence of your spool , and bail. I have a lil quantum that wind knots everything, mono or braid. But the new penn sargos never twists,My cheap stuff does though..

The deal with wind knots is that braid isn't as smooth or as stiff as mono and if your line loops around itself it will catch and knot. There are 3 ways to deal with it. No. 1 heavier line No. 2 keeping the slack in your line to a minimum. I try to line drive cast 15 and 20 lb braid and this seems to help. No 3 is that as you use the line it smooths out. I almost never get wind knots on older braid.
