Got there about 9am, met fishonfishoff, truckyfd, and BigWMan. Fished till about 3:30pm. Bait was hard to come by today. It came around in spurts, and had to be sabiki'ed (all good sized threads, didnt see any greenbacks). Not much as far as biting goes. I caught one short grouper and nothing else. Truckys boy Trevor jumped a poon, and trucky got broke off at least 3 times by something big (The WTF fish? Who knows.) Saw a few macks come over the rail, a trout, a key west grunt, and this thing, which a guy from Carolina caught. We thought was a grunt at first but on closer inspection couldnt say what it was. It had small, sharp, vampire-like snapper teeth in front, and 2 rows of what looked like baby sheepshead teeth behind it. Anyone have a clue? The sharp teeth in front rules out a grunt (I think?). The vertical stripes were more pronounced than the pic shows (I shoulda fanned out the dorsal fin for the pic for identifying), and the mouth shot isnt the best (crappy phone cam) Even though it was slow, I gotta say, I just love being out there. You just cant beat a day on the water, hot-bite or not. Its better than bein in Lakeland.

The fish in the pic is a Jolthead Porgy. About 4 mos ago I caught one out there that was 14".
Really was wanting to get some keeper mangos today, but just kept getting small red and gag grouper.......from 8"-12". Got 10 of those under the pier, and one more 19" on the grouper rod set out in the rocks.
Nice seeing Goindeep, fishonfishoff, and Truckyfd out there. Tides were slow today. So fishing was pretty slow as well. Checked out the shallows on the way off for pomps, there were no pomp fishermen present. Will wait for a strong outgoing before coming back to look for the tarpon again. - David

Good ID on the fish 62. Just checked the fish bible. Looks like it to me. Figures Wayne.....just after we leave. Ahhh next time. Steve, I still wanna know what smoked that 60lb. leader and 50lb. braid like that early this morning. Must have been the "mystery fish". B2tch !!!!!!!! Somebody catch that thing. Good luck and tight lines tomorrow Alley Crew.

Good call on the fish David. "Only real markings are a short blue line under each eye. Corner of mouth and isthmus have slight orange cast. Has molar like teeth for urchins, crabs, and mollusks." Here you can really see the blue line: Rich, I think you may be another WTF victim. ...and the legend grows....
