Yeah not really a stellar fishing weekend, fri and sat were my 3rd and 4th day without cigs and those days are the worst for withdrawals. But friday nite caught a little sheeps and a roughly 20 in trout, and think i hooked into 2 others, but i wanted to get home cuz i had a nagging head ache. Had a headache sat to so just caught a flick with my girl...Angels and Demons kinda sucked by the way. But rewarded myself and bought some lobster tails and some scallops to cook up Fished for about an hour and half yesterday, caught a couple of sheeps but there wasnt anything going on except for people catching small macks and heard one pompano was brought up also. So i went to the hard rock and met up with some family for a big get together. They got a great buffett, but its $30. Almost turned $50 into $250 at poker but some old lady stuck in with a pair of fours only to pair up her king on the river and bust my pocket Q's. Oh well But for quitting cigs, Im over them. Whenever i wanted em i would just think about $6 dollars a pack in July. No way. For anybody interested in taking a shot at quitting I quit about 2 years ago for a year with this guys book and its philosphy is what helped this time also en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_Carr

thanx for the tip inshore. But it was exactly the way i needed it to be, if i woulda walked out with money, i know i woulda been back.
I dont need that, i was addicted to online poker for a while but never let myself use real money. That is an expensive addiction and aint no way im letting myself get sucked into that. I just stick with my ganja and alcohol thank you....lol

Im on day #2 without a cigarette. F that new tax. My last cig was Wednesday about 8pm. Ill be sweatin out the nicotine myself this weekend. If you see someone on the news freaking out with a fishing pole in one hand, beer in the other, babbling incoherently about taxes, fee hikes, gas prices, etc....that might be me. So far Ive chewed through about 16 straws, 1/2 box of toothpicks, and my cheeks are raw from sunflower seed salt.
Why I picked 4th of July weekend to quit, Ill never know, but Im gonna do it. Its all will power man.
Wish me luck folks, Im gonna need it~~~

There have been reports about a strange man chewing on straws on the SSP acting strange having convulsions and mumbling about those 1/2" to small SSP groupers.

as far as the nic fits, its like having to pee really bad, if you force your mind off of it it goes away. Dont linger on it. I relapsed a 1 week and 1/2 ago quitting on monday again with my girl.
Oh and something sugary helps a little with the nic fits but dont start relying on it, im back to 2 mountain dews a day

Congrats to all who are quitting smokig. I too have quit smoking as of last saturday am. I went to the nsp last friday and soon after realized that I had forgoten to buy smokes on the way there. I went into a mini panic and deciced I would fish till I ran out and then I would have to leave. After a few hours of rationing my own cigarettes so I could fish longer I finally realized that cigarettes had become more important to me than anything else in my life. WTF how did this happen?? I was so pissed at myself for taking over 25 years to realize this simple fact. Even so I stopped to buy a pack on the way home, luckily the clerk couldn't sell me anything for at least 10 minutes as she was counting her cash at the end of her shift, so I went home pissed that I only had 2 smokes left for sat am and would have to go buy smokes when I got up. Sat am I sat in the garage with the wife and smoked my 2 cigs and the got dressed and headed to the store. The local hess ( where I had failed to obtain my precious camel lights the night before) was completely out of camels. No lights no regulars etc.. I was now really pissed and headed for the circle k about 3 miles away. They had em....... for 5.25 a pack f'in ridiculous I said as I handed over my debit card as I had no cash on me. For some reason the card reader would not read my card and after the girl had tried 3 times and there was an angry mob beginning to form behind me cause I was holding up the line. I said just forget it and left the store empty handed, and so pissed that I probably looked like a complete jackass to everyone who saw me for the next 10 minutes while I tried to figure my next move. I finally remembered what I had realized the night before and said what the heck am I doing?? I then called the wife and informed her I was on my way to Wal Mart to buy some patches as I had decided to quit smoking again. (her response was less than enthusiastic) Ok it's true I have quit before and in the past have been a miserable cranky jerk and expected that since I was uncomfortable everyone around me should be too, but I vowed this time would be different and it has been and will continue to be. I am using the patch as per the directions and am confident that I will not smoke again this time. Sorry for the long post, thanks for listening, blah blah etc.. Stan

Congrats to all you guys that are tryin......been a week for me today. I am not having a hard time though.....the nic monster must have been feelin for me or somthin cause i have had no cravings what so ever. The other half was usin a patch,i went cold turkey. 11$ a day we will save......INSANE!!!!!Spending that much just to make yourself feel like s#%t. But let me tell you....first 5 days and Rich was eatin everything in the house!Got that under control now though. So for all that are in the process and all that are thinkin about quitten good luck.

i havent had the urge to eat a lot yet but what im worried about is in about a week or two when tastebuds start healing and food tastes sooooo much different (better) then i want more and more i have to be aware of that and keep it under control.

it wasnt so much the eating more often, its being able to quit eating period. I would end dinner with a smoke when i dont have that to stop me i tend to eat longer. Then i remember it takes like 20 min for the hormone that tells you your full hits your brain so i try, "try", to keep that in mind.
