had a buddy take us to parts i never fished, north of bayport. how i came home with 0 fish is a mystery. they were everywhere. the water was flat. and you could see huge wakes of fish in about 1' of water. i sight casted to about 30+fish. with no hookups. had them go after my topwater many times, but none would fully commit. there was one school of about50+fish, and our buddy managed to get a nice 26"er out of them. and later 2 smaller reds and a trout were caught. but this was by far the nicest place i ever fished.its was like i was henry waszcheck fishin the flats. (only he actualy hooks up with fish) gotta go back also saw about 10 boates in an area all with there pushpoles. goin for tarpon i guess

I take it you didn't have any live bait? Next time I'd try takin livies, and toss some fresh chum at em.
Sounds like a killer spot if you can get em fired up.

we did have some selects, one small red ate a shrimp.i couldnt believe it, i would see a a fish pushin a huge V wake . toss a free ined shrimp up ahead of em and nothin. next time i will be prepared with a load of cutup pins.
theres times we have caught reds , every cast,1 after another for hours, using cut pins for bait and chum.

I personal would use small live pins about 3" long or live greenbacks or live finger mullet. If you can find out whatever it is there feeding on that would probably be the best bait. Juat my 2 cents and now i am broke.
