I've seen this boat when I lived in the marina where he keeps the boat. It certainly is sea worthy. If I can work it into my schedule I'd be willing to go, but the schedule is pretty damn full. Brian

Just got off the phone with Capn Bob, he said the boat was slow so on a trip out they trolled for Macks, kings and the like followed by bottom fishing for Grouper, Snapper and other reef fish. He said that he usually went out 22+ miles. He also stated that if the fish were biting good he would extend the trip, not many capn's do that. He runs another boat somewhere in Tampa and charters his own boat on his days off. He said the reason he only take 6 people at a time is because over 6 people the laws change as far as the Coast Guard goes.
I'm going to put a deposit down for a trip late this month and another for late July if anyones interested in going. @ $46.60 each for a boat, bait, ice and rods this could be something great.

Does $280.00 even cover the cost of Gas??? I hope it is not $280.00 for the boat and you have to pay for gas. I almost fell for that trick once several years ago when gas was only $1.25 a gallon.

Deposit sent for reservations on May 25th, Got ahold of Big Mike and he's fired up and ready to go. As it stands it's Me, Rich, JJ, Big Mike, Skyjay and Basher on the first trip out. The Capt. sent an Email confirming the date today so we're set. He also said that he has no problem with us bringing a live well full O Pin's and has 12volt available to run the pumps/aeriatator. The three of us will be down at the pier Sat afternoon to catch/trap pins and castnet greenies. Nuttin better to get the bigguin's feeding than a swarm of greenies let loose on the bottom.
Now the question at hand is when do we leave. On his site he states that he can leave as early as 4am and has to return by 6pm. Me, I'm an early riser anyway so the earlier the better as far as I'm conserned. What say the rest of you? I'll let him know as soon as we figure it out.
Two weeks till we head out and man is it gonna be a longggggg two weeks

no doubt i can't even wait till tomorrow for another offshore trip aboard the Ocean Obsession, look for me on sunrisemarina.com around 5pm tomrrow, asian dude with a basketball jersey on.
as for 4am thats fine with me. i could head over the to skyway after work and arrive about 12-1 am. if we leave at 4 by the time we get out to the fishing grounds the sun should be creeping out. Tommy thanks again for setting this up!

Got an Email from the Capn today requesting a departure time for the 25th. On the site he says he can leave as early as 4am-8am, may be to early for some so when would we, as a crew want to leave. Me, JJ and Rich will be at the pier Sat afternoon to wet a line and catch bait so we'll be there. Be on the lookout for a white Dodge Ram 1500 extended cab with LSU stickers, LSU Tiger tag on the front.
As far as the departure time I'm open to whenever, but if prodded I'd say 6am at the latest.

Oh and JJ said he's been on an Admirals launch before and said they were slow, about 14 knots (7+mph) so at that speed it'll take 3hrs to get 20 miles offshore.

Thats why he trolls out there, might as well at that speed.

yeah i can meet at the docks at 4am no problem but then i'm not sure if that gives me time to lend a hand in catching bait. but we'll see when time gets closer. i also read that he takes about 4 hours before we start grouper fishing.
either way i'll sleep on the way out/in and maybe troll a lure, he also has his own trolling lures. i have a camera and it should be good.

Alrighty then, Got an Email from the big guy and he dropped out, memorial weekend and all I kinda figured he would. GoinDeep filled the spot. So as it stands it Skyjay, GoinDeep, inshorebasher, JJ, Rich and Me. Capn said be ready to leave the dock at 6am. We'll be at the pier sat afternoon around 3pm for fishing and bait catching. Got a few pinfish traps we're gonna set and a livewell to keep them in, we should have swimmers the entire day. I also have a chum bucket that you drop down, give it a jerk and the bait/chum is released. Fill that thing with greenies and let em go on the bottom and the bigguns come out and play. Really looking forward to meeting all of you
