From the old Skyway site. Don't know who the photgrapher was, so I can't give due credit.

Talk about your "Skyway Mile". I remember fishing off that and riding my motorcycle over that bad boy. When you went over the top it was a long grate and your front tire would move back and forth across the grating. Look down and at that speed the grate would kinda disappear, freaky. Thanks for the memory.

I use to get my toyota tercel over 100 miles an hour down the skyway bridge but it struggled staying over 60 going up it.

My old VW bug at 42 HP dang near needed a push to get over that old bridge, but when you went over the top, hold on. Use to keep a couple of blocks in the trunk to keep the front end on the ground. With gas prices, I kinda wish I still had that old bug.

Wish i had that tercel to. It got great milage and made many a fishing runs with me to skyway potters pier and johns pass. Am i dated my self still using potters pier. I remenber when it changed names but i keep calling it potters.I gave the car to my brother cause dad gave me a slighty newer honda and my bro wrecked it just a few days later i was so pissed. The honda was flooded by saltwater in oldsmar several years later.

Andrew E. Potter Pier, it will always be that to me too. I have caught some mongo snook out from under that pier. Use to fish it around June, July and August when the big girls would arrive. Do you remember when the only way to get to Ft Desoto was by boat? Guess were both dating ourselves a bit.

No fnr i cant say i do . i sure wish i could cause they would have to be some awsome memories. I use to work the one time owner of the bait shop on potters pier. He allso owned a shop in bellair beach wich is the one i worked at. He fired me after 1 month saying i stole 3 thousand shrimp. I look at like he was crazy. He knew my a friend of mine worked there ( a year before i started ) and he would come in anytime he wanted and fill his boats live well with shrimp. The day he fired he had some other kid allready there to take my place. When i drove away in my toyota tercel ive told yall about here yhe song take this job and shove it came so blasted it and drove by the shop and gave my old boss the bird and laughed all the way home then went fishing.

Cool picture GD. Never noticed that Pole on the right at the storage shed. Looks like it could be some kind of weather reporting station. Does anybody know? Be nice to know where to find its report, even if its temp and pressure. Don't see an anemometer on it.

Sights you will never see on the pier again: East side anglers enjoying a typical summer day on the SSP. And yours truly enjoying a summertime sunrise, "east coast" style.
