The Mac’s ate briefly at the end of the SSP for about 30-45 mins from 7:15-8am. A school of jacks went through from 8:30-9:30. Nothing ate after that and I left around 11am.

I spent 12 hours in the lonely corner trying for kingfish thanks to a tip from a friend 😂 it was a great day.. caught a juvenile king, saw the jacks but didn’t really fish for them. After you left there was a school of big tarpon busting in the middle of the bay, the jacks came through a couple more times with some much larger jacks mixed in. Floated out blue runners and small jacks but no kingfish bite for me. As soon as 5pm rolled around so did the rain and that’s when I finally got my first bite and ensued a battle with what was definitely a Goliath grouper in the middle of the storm.. pulled me too stricter with locked down drag on my 10500 pens.. that was enough for me hahaha

That is wild!! I’d be to scared of that grouper yanking me in the water without the proper leverage. Hit me up next time you want to go back out there and I’ll meet you there.

Hahaha it actually was a little wild, the rain was coming down heavy and the wind was whipping so hard one of those big blue trash cans launched out into the gulf! The Goliath actually made a hard run out towards structure in the bay so for a split second I thought I stood a chance but even on that giant reel with locked drag I couldn’t stop it hahaha

Gonna go tommorow to go at for a king or spanish. Gonna use lures or spoons. Anybody got any idea what lures to use for king or Spanish or for both besides spoons. Had a king hit a pink spoon last year but got spooled.

From what I’m hearing they are hitting live bait but I would imagine if you rip anything infront of their face at the right time they will hit.. I’ve seen people use big diving plugs, letting them float and drift hundreds of yards from the pier with the current and ripping it back in fast. Never seen anybody land a king like that but have seen a few gags ripped out the rocks with the bigger lipped plugs

There's probably $2000 worth of x-rap magnums hung up on those rockpiles. I've seen videos of big kings caught offshore with x-raps....Dorado flavor

Hear another guy on the north side catch a king using Spanish Sardines. Seems to be popular lately. But most guys I’ve seen use Blue Runners.
