Arrived at 6:30 and started throwing spoons at 7:20. It was currently low tide and around 8 or 9 hooked into a mackeral that couldn't be lifted or thrown over the rails and tried to bring it up by hand but it was to heavy and the leader line broke.rest of the day was uneventful for mackeral so I left at 3.

What lb test leader are you using for it to break?

What lb test leader are you using for it to break? 25lb mono. It broke in the center so it couldn't be a cut off .

Bummer. Might have been a fray in the line.

Get a net, but there's a higher chance you will never need it. I've watched guys lift 28" spanish up on to the pier with ease, without a net, keyword is "lift", not flip. None of that matters if your leader has a nick...carry on
