What's the biggest fishing lie you've heard but have proven it wrong multiple times? I'll start this show: That old theory that fish won't bite when a front is moving thru......LIE, I have slayed macks and gags in the middle of a passing front and the following day as well. Anyone else have a good lie?

What you say about the fronts I have actually proved time and time again. Typically when a front is passing through, especially at the beginning, the barometer is falling rapidly and it seems to turn the fish on. One evening as a front was approaching, I was cranking a bomber plug along a fishing pier and had 4 nice snook hit in a matter of minutes. It was obvious to me that the approaching front is what turned them on. Had a favorite lake in Montana I would fish for Brown Trout. When the fronts were passing, the fish were biting. Blue bird days were almost a waste of time. Not much for fishing in the rain, especially with lightning around.

I don't know if it's really a lie, or just an old fishing tale, but apparently snook used to be a horrible tasting fish (tasted like soap so called em soapfish) but then they learned the trick was to cut the skin off: oldsaltfishing.org/its-soapfish-season/

Biggest most heard lie: You can't eat "fish species". Or "Fish species X" tastes horrible.
This has been said over the years about triggerfish, amberjack, macs, red drum, and a whole host of fish species. Probably by people who never tried them or don't know how to cook or clean them. I've eaten bluefish, pinfish, hard tails, spade fish, pig fish, little tunny, Atlantic bonita, small jack crevalle and others. All of them tasty when cleaned and utilized properly. The only thing I ever caught that was truly inedible was a 20# black drum. It was just simply horrible.

Before I retired I worked with a buddy from Guam that put black drum into breakfast rolls and it was quite good, never had any strong taste, as you said it's all in the preparation, always heard it taste bad.
