Ate right on time at 6pm to 7:30pm following the tide coefficient. Came there early at 5pm. Bait was too deep to cast for. Trying jigging for an hour and nothing. A friend was using bait and he didn’t even get a scratch. 6pm hit and I got a strike, ran for a second but it spit it out. Saw a guy 100 yards away land one on a spoon. I saw another guy 100 yards from him got another one on spoon. I watch him and saw him catch 4 in 30 mins. Got jealous and decided to fish near him with a jig. First cast and got cutoff. Threw my pole in the water and said, “f@ck this crap” and went to set up a spoon. Came back and caught 5 before sunset. Side note: the two guys with the homemade minnow jig/lure showed up at 6:30pm and fished in the same spot. They had about 4 cutoffs and landed about 8 macs. Those guys were in fire as usual.
