It's not looking good, that's for sure. My sister is at her place in Venice and said it's bad down there.

Maybe we could get people to join FOF, Friends of Fish, to petition some one to get those who are using fertilizer, to STOP. Thus putting an end to the increasing threat of Red Tide. This of course in tongue in cheek!!

Yeah how is it the birds get so much attention from regulators but the red tide is a nothing burger? Red tide kills way more life forms through toxicity and to some level starvation of other animals seeking food yet we are just to expect red tide every year like flu season and just get over it. I suppose they are just picking low hanging fruit. If people really want to make an impact for the better, solve the red tide issue, get control of nutrient water pollution. Unreal.

As soon as the red tide gets national attention all the businesses on the south and west coast will suffer, people are afraid to go to Mexico for spring break now, So its Disney or the East coast will be a likely destination. I just read a article last week about how a lot of coastal communities in the 70's had large pipes pumping effluent discharge miles offshore (kinda like out of site and out of mind mentality) and the real shocker is these pipes are still there ready to use in case of major rain events .aka Hurricanes. Our red tide issues and water quality issues won't go away till gov't changes their way of thinking and people too.

People needs to stop using Fertilizer on their lawns for a start. Tampa, St. Pete & Cities South of Us needs to stop dumping sewage in the Bays which goes right into the Gulf.
