Every year for the past 10 years now around this time you will see me on the piers at the end fishing for King Mackerel. Even though I have never caught one I have put tons of time in. I really don’t plan on posting during the season. Just saying that even though I haven’t gotten one I’m still trying. There’s a lot of arrogant f###s out there too like skyway misfits who hit the pier and have this little bitch ass attitude about them. I’ll be there with my boat on top of my truck. If you want to say hi fine. If you want to say f### off fine. I won’t be there much cause I do have a life or rather a lack of one because I work so much. So if the pelicans don’t fly in my line, if the wind doesn’t tangle my gear, if baits available and dolphins don’t get it, if no one crosses my line, and if it’s not too much grass, or any other type of interference with health or other wise then maybe I might stand a chance this year. It’s like how the Chicago Cubs use to be. I hope this is my year. If it is I will post that….

Good Luck! If you really want to catch a king mac from a pier, I'd highly reccomend the panhandle piers, Panama City, Okaloosa, Navarra or Pensacola, in late April or May. Much better chance! and you can still catch spanish macs.

You mention having a boat on top of your truck. I suggest that you think about putting that boat in the water at the beach on the east side of the N Skyway Rest area. Maybe catch some good baits (blue runners or thread herring) from the pier, and taking them and your boat out the short distance just a hundred yards toward the mouth of the bay, where a lot of boats anchor up when the kings are really running around the pier. You would have a much better chance of catching a king that way, instead of fighting the crowd on the end of the pier.
