Notice that it does say "Proposed".
No One is Grandfathered in either.
When anglers don't take the Class, this is what could Close the Piers.
Also Note that it also Includes the Little Bridge before the South Skyway Pier.
This has All been based on Lies by the Bird People-(FOP) & their supporters that don't realize or know the truth.
This will seriously hurt the Tampa Bay Area.
The Tampa Bay Skyway Piers are known all over the World for Fishing.
I believe that Jeanette & the FOP will definitely be Investigated after the FWC said that their complaints & statements were "Unfounded".
The Next Meeting will lay it all out. No Date has been set.

How would that be enforceable? FWC doesn't have the manpower to check every angler that shows up on a Saturday to fish. I guess you wouldn't get on the pier without a certificate, should be interesting with several different languages spoken out there.

The people that works at the Piers or the FWC would probably check everyone at the Booth. |

Although I agree there a zealots that will lie and have bogus data to support their narrative, I frequently see people feeding the birds all over the Tampa Bay area. And not just the folks that are not paying attention to their bait and the birds take advantage of the unprotected free meal, but people actually tossing the birds fish. I also witness people just cutting the line when a bird gets tangled. I have even witnessed, on the Dunedin Causeway, fisherman killing tangled bird and burying it in the sand, twice. Even after explaining to people feeding the birds shouldn't be done and is illegal, they just blow me off and continue. It's no different than the people that go to a park and feed the ducks bread, harmful yet even though there are signs prohibiting it, it continues. Until that behavior is stopped this problem will continue. Personally, I think if they fined people witnessed not following the rules, they could collect enough money to pay a full-time officer to just patrol the Skyway piers. Make it like a parking meter officer. They could walk the piers all day. I follow the rules and have no issue with them watching me. I would also be happy to donate money to pay the officer's salary. I believe others would also, if there were guarantees the money wouldn't be used for other stuff. Everyone states FWC doesn't have the manpower, but I believe they just don't want to supply the manpower. I carry a 5 gallon bucket with bird rescue supplies with me everywhere I go. Even when not fishing. In Florida and the Outer Banks of NC I'm frequently using it to remove fishing gear from birds, especially on the Skyway. Until prevention, avoidance and correct actions when it happens is the norm, we are doomed to have our right to fish removed. |

There should be a course for the Bird People on "Not Throwing Bait" as well. The Decision is still not Final. We will just have to wait & see what the FWC says at their next meeting. |

So it looks like they wanna pull a fort desoto.
Lock off a part of a pier from sabiki rigs but at least it’s not the entire pier. Just the tip of SSP. The class will likely cost 💲(they use the word commissioned) so we will be hearing a lot about how unenforceable this is cause no one will do it lol.
Plus, in order for it to be legit, they need to offer in multiple languages. The infrastructure needed, (data storage, website etc) it’s gonna br hella expensive
