My daughter and I went out to our favorite spot on the east span of the SSP today for probably the last time. We found this spot a few months ago and it has consistently produced lots of action (mostly small gags and big mangos). We got to the pier around 2:00 to catch the last few hours of the outgoing tide and with one throw of the net, had a huge fishmas tree and more bait then we could possibly want. The bait was real thick and the jacks and tarpon were crashing it throughout the afternoon. Of course the problem with tons of bait is....you guessed it tons of birds. They were a huge pain in the arse today and were constantly getting tangled in our lines and fraying the heck out of it. I had to take off a ton of line because of the darn birds. Anyway we set up shop for the snapper and shortly after drowning our baits the juvie gags starting coming over the rail. We probably caught close to 10 all together with the largest being only 15". No takers on the pinfish I tossed out except for the birds that kept getting caught in the line. My daughter caught the only keeper mango, measuring in at a nice 13". The hardest thing was packing up around 5:30 knowing that it would probably be our last trip to ole reliable piling #118.

Anytime Jay! Spots are there to be shared, just make sure you throw back any keeper grouper or snapper so my girl can catch em!
