The Florida Department Of Environmental Protection (FDEP) has acquired the Skyway
Fishing Piers State Park to use solely as a recreational site for activities compatible for the
use of the premises as a fishing pier and park facility.
On December 20, 1994, FDEP leased certain lands and structures, collectively referred to
as the sunshine skyway fishing piers, which later became the Skyway Fishing Piers State
Park, from the Florida Department Of Transportation (FDOT). The lease represents
approximately 20.49 acres, [glow=blue,2,300]and it is for a period of 20 years, which will expire on
December 20, 2014[/glow]. Since this lease, FDEP has not acquired any parcel to add to the pier;
thus, the area of the pier is unchanged.
According to the lease agreement between FDEP and FDOT, FDEP will manage the
property only for a recreational site for activities compatible with FDEP’s primary use of
the premises as a fishing pier and park facility.

redneck, Where from that scan do you get the piers will be shut down? What I read is a $1000 for engineering, could be an inspection, a grand won't get to much inspecting done when DOT requires a 4 man crew on all it's work. And the second scan is a proposed work order for fiscal year 2009 aloting 2.4 million for bridge repair and rehabilitation. Thats just FDOT's state contribution and doesn't include any federal funding.

the lease is up on dec 20, 2014 and they have no intensions on renewing it .................................. plain and simple cant put it any clearer for you to under stand it so ...........and there is no federal funding or the work would have been done long ago

You probable already know this but "BRRP" is an abrevation for "Bridge Rehabilitation and Replacement Program"
DIH is "State In-House Product Support"

Figures out in the fourth col Read $2,429,754 as proposed budget, State funds. The first post needs to edited to read Budget not "work order"

Now tell me where you see the date for the pier shutting down?

The lease expires in 2014, but that doesn't mean they won't renew it. According to DOT, the west side's 50 year life span ends in 2021.

Just to let everybody know because it seems like diggin4grouper is casting the blame on me for this.
I am just a paid employee not a manager or part owner of pier associates. Also i did not know about anything that diggin4grouper is casting blame on me for. And if you would like to know who authorized the old board to be shut down just call the pier manager all this crap was out of my hands as it still is now so go find another scapegoat.

Here is how I read all the above.

In July 2007 a few proposals were prepared by the FDOT. One to do an engineering study and the other to repair the pier. Then the FL Leg decided to cut taxes and with the tax cut came budget cuts. Well guess who lost without a voice? Yes the pier rats and all the others who fish the pier.

Without the repairs the think must be the piers are not safe and must be closed.
