I'll be out there tonight, hoping to pick some fish off the reefs with cut bait. Maybe try for grouper if I can avoid the dolphins. Also have a green underwater light I want to test out, see if it attracts squid and not just bait. Happy holidays and tight lines everyone!

Pesky pelicans can't find any bait now and are crowding the pier stealing macks, had 2 taken from my bucket, finally had to use a lid to keep them out. Can't scare them off, they just stand there and slash at you with those beaks, and block the road and won't move

Definitely a race to the mackerel after you bring it over the rail between the pelicans and yourself.

Fishbait....l don't believe they are here all the time, my theory is there are still macks in the gulf pushing south and when a front heads our way they move into the bay for a while then leave when the weather stabilizes. All the good Mack action for me has been when the weather is nasty and when the wind is strong from the NW,NE, or North. Go out there on a calm beautiful day and you might catch 2-3 macks

Hard to believe but I believe you that they stole macks from your bucket. People need to stop feeding the birds @ all the Piers or anywhere they fish. When you throw your cast net and retrieve bait do not let the birds get the baitfish. They get too accustomed to people feeding them and do not hunt for themselves. Also do not let the birds get any fish you hook and want to release. Regulars know this. We need to teach the tourists not to feed the birds.

Can't scare them off, they just stand there and slash at you with those beaks, and block the road and won't move Hard to believe they robbed your bucket but I believe you. People need to learn to not feed The birds. The birds are hungry as bait fish are harder to find. When you throw your castnet and retrieve bait do not let the birds get the fish before you can release the unwanted fish back into the water. Signs are all around @ the Piers re not feeding the birds. People need to learn that wherever you are fishing do not feed the birds. Regulars know this. We need to teach the tourists. Whenever you catch an unwanted fish re size limit, etc release it away from where the birds can possibly get it. Regulars also know this. We get a lot of newbies here so that is why I posted this. Newbies,. Make sure you are up on fish identifications and the current fish regulations. If you are not sure ask someone or ck http://www.http://www.myfwc.com and check out the regulations. People will play dumb and claim they do not know the regulations and that makes my blood boil and want to turn them in.

Looks like the wind calmed down and I hope Fishbait gets a couple 30" gags tonight Haha, no 30" gags for me, lol. I found a spot that held a bunch of keywest grunts, a few really nice ones. Lots of short snapper (mostly mangos, a few lane). Grouper rod stayed in the car and didn't make it out. As morning rolled in the outgoing tide was too weak to drift a pinfish out, also the lone dolphin roaming where I was fishing didn't help make the case. Had fun getting my mess of "grey snapper". Lots of bait out there (SSP), didn't see anyone land any mackeral but I was only there until 8 am.
