got there around 11:30am and limited out with 10 snappers in two hrs. A little slower than we expected. After that went fishing for grouper, landed an 22" and missed many more. water was dark brown and has lots of grass in it. The storm that blew through it was scary as well. Brian landed 22 macks and only half of them were keeper. Got to work for them. Remember fish don't need to feed by sight. This is especially true when the water is this dirty.

What bait did you use for snapper. I’ve tried cut bait, small pinfish, and greenbacks recently but no luck other than some shorties last couple of outings

Yes, coinciding with the approaching tide change Look at the Tide Charts for that Area. The End of the Out-Going Tide & the Start of the In-Coming tide.

I leave a lot of clues in my post and you're the first one to point it out. LOL It all ties together on what I am thinking and what I am doing. Anyways.. used dead bait/cut bait. Tide was slowing down which means fish can move around to feed more but they can't see that well yet. Dead + oily + smelly + bait... helps the fish find the bait faster. If bait look unnatural they will pass it up. Dead bait is the easiest free meal out there or anywhere but have you guys seen dead bait move? or float sideways? or sink to the bottom like a rock? Oh what is that big line and shiny metal thingy on the bait that got uncle bob last week! I ain't touching that!

Are the tide charts the same for the nsp and ssp? Any recommendations which location to base times off of? I usually fish nsp but tide seem to always be way off the location I use.

This is the one that I use, goes off of Mullet Key and is fairly close to the actual tide changes, I haven’t found one that is 100% accurate if anyone has a better one please share. tides4fishing.com/us/florida-gulf-coast/mullet-key-channel-skyway

On thing to always remember: When using the Tide Charts, If the Tide Chart states a Certain Time for High Tide or Low Tide, that is the High or Low Tide for that Area for that Time.
Many people ask, If it is Low Tide then Why is the Water still moving out ? Vise Versa for a High Tide.
For example: 1. When the High Tide is at 10:00am for a Certain Area, the rest of Tampa Bay has to fill up. 2. When the Low Tide is at 10:00am for a Certain Area, the rest of Tampa Bay has to empty itself out.

And of course the weather, especially the wind affects the actual timing of the tide flip, but I still like this site for reference. Pay attention to the tidal co-efficient, they tell you a lot about what kind of current you will see out there. I also really like the graphic that shows the rise and fall of the tides for the 24 hour period, also really gives you good insight about what kind of currents you will see! Tidal co-efficient for this weekend is really low which means very little current for the weekend. While it makes fishing easier (you can use much less lead), it doesn't make fishing better, in fact you will generally see much less action out there when there is little to no current.

The Moon Phase also plays a Big Part in the tides.

I use tides4fishing...take a reading for redfish point, a reading for port manatee, and split the difference

I use the port manatee station readings and add about 30 min. Due to the nature of tide you can’t really get an exact.

As someone points out... tide --> main cause is the moon. but also wind affects it. You don't need to be perfect on the tide prediction. You just need to be close enough. Get there prepare and then go to war when the time come.

I caught the clue and there was another clue when he said Brian had to work for the mackerel. My guess he had to move around a bit. Many have suggested being mobile.
