Well the macks are back with this fast moving current, was on the SSP 8/1/19 from 11:30am to 1pm and walked away with 8 macks. In coming tide was pushing all the bait fish up next to the bridge and the macks were slamming the bait fish, at times jumping out of the water. Had the wife with so had to leave early, she got bored They came in for a time and then it was quiet as the tide was starting to get slack. 1st pic is from 8-1
Second pic was from today, 11 macks in only 1 hour then they moved on. All caught on sinker rig with a white spoon that Brian makes.
with this fast moving tides/current surprised I did not see more people out, I love the faster currents and the past two weeks have stunk for mack fishing, at least for me.
Tight lines all,

Looking good!
Where do you get the spoons? They’re always sold out at the bait shop.

Excellent catch! You must have been there close to high tide. I usually avoid fast tide days, will have to reconsider.

You can’t buy the white from bait shop anymore. Brian said the cost of powder coating is too much. I mostly use his regular ones but I see him with the white version a lot.

Rather then creating a new identical thread let me add. Took my yak out on the 1 and 2nd. On the first I wasted a whole day. By the time I anchored it was close to 10. I was too disorganized to be effective. Decided to try my quick release anchor rope. Only too find out the float was too light and then current kept it under water by about a foot. Tried for an hour to grab in strong current. No way. Gave up. Without an anchor you can’t fish. So paddled for few hours till slack. Fished, caught keeper bass but nothing else. Then finally retrieved my anchor. So needed redemption. Went the next day, with a bigger rope float. Had a great time. 2 snappers and ton of grunts. Tried for grouper but I don’t have the patience. With full cloud cover decided not to bring or use any sun protection. And yet again I am in pain.

The white spoon at the bottom of the pic is the one that Brian makes, which are no longer sold in the bait shop. All the other spoons I got from Walmart and painted them with acrylic paint and then clear coated with clear nail polish that I took from my wife. They are a little smaller but work good the only thing is they don't last as long (poorly made) The top swivel at the red bead tends to bend when you get hammered hard by a good size mack.
Brian website is not up and running so if you want white or any other color, get some paint and clear coat and your in business.
Tight lines to ya all,

He doesn't sell the white one because it cost too much to make.

justfishin, thanks for the picture of the spoon. I try to keep my tackle box up to date although I have not made the trip from Avon Park to the pier in over three years. My old 1995 car cannot make the trip, and somehow I cannot see a newer car in my yard.
