Welcome aboard pierresplace. Bienvenue pierresplace.
seabird fishes there periodically and is up north for the next several months. I have also fished there with him. The damage occurred during Irma. I think he contacted the City of Clearwater about the piers but I do not remember what he said they told him.

I wrote an email to the City of Clearwater about the status of those piers several days ago. No reply yet. Will call soon and check. They were supposed to be fixed this June.

I wrote and called Clearwater and Sand Key Park phone. No word yet. If anyone has gone there, please post and let us know the status of those piers. I would go right out there and check but I am 1,300 miles north. Trying to get info from the local officials is like trying to open a clam!!

I finally got some word from the City of Clearwater. They do cover the small piers versus the County which covers Sand Key Park itself. The lady I talked with said that the water front area IS OPEN and at least one pier is usable and she thinks the other two maybe ok to use now. If any of you fish there, post and let us know for sure.

An Update on the Sand Key piers:
Went there yesterday morning (10.19.18). The small piers are basically in good shape and not changed from before. They added more rocks along the seawall. The parking lot was improved and has a bit more room. There are two new porta johns there and one even has a light that goes on when you go in.
I did fish there for an hour with frozen shrimp. Only one type of fish was biting and I caught 8 very large spot tail pinfish. Hoped for grunts and snapper but there were none. Water clarity was good.
