Hi all, Been reading this forum for over a year and finally decided to sign up. I live in Winter Garden and come to fish on Skyway a few times a year. My fishing in Tampa area has greatly improved because of the info Y'all share here. Most of my fishing is done in Cape Canaveral and Sebastian Inlet. After reading about Hubbards on this forum finally booked a trip for this Sunday on Flying Hub 2 12h trip. If anybody has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. Baits to bring, hook sizes, weights and rigs tips and tricks I reserved 3 dozen of pinfish, because i have no way of catching them myself. Thank You

Do you recommend using a double or single hook setup? Also is it worth taking live shrimp?

Do you recommend using a double or single hook setup? Also is it worth taking live shrimp? Single Hook Setup. If You hook into a Large Grouper or any other Large Fish; One may be all You are going to be able to handle at one time. As for the Shrimp, You may be able to take Shrimp on the Party Boats but some Party Boats may not allow bringing Bait on Board. In other words, they may want You to Buy their Bait. As for the Hubbard's Boats, You need to call them and see if they allow it and ask if they Freely Supply any other Bait such as Sardines.

Is this the 12hrs extemre trip?
Bring a convertional rod, they do not like spinner. Use the railing to crank the fish up, don't need to work hard that way. Oh, 2 speed convertional is a life saver as well. 6 - 10oz weight. mainline at least 60 mono or get a topshot. leader up to 100lbs.
double snell hook for snappers or single for grouper. At least a 5/0 and up. 5/0 are good for snapper, 7/0 + good for grouper.
3 dozen live bait should be good enough.
I would like bait that you catch yourself and the bait they give usually have the tail bite off. You can bring bait onboard but they have to be in their live well. I don't think your shrimp will do too well in there with all the other live bait, unless in another container in there.

Very good info, thank You.
I prepared two rods one with 60lb mono topshot and 100lb braid backing and a second rod with 80lb mono for grouper. Now just need the weather to cooperate, forecast looks pretty bad 5-7 feet

I have been watching their videos all week. But. A lot of information is contradictory. They say don't bring spinning rods and then you see people pitching baits at mahi-mahi or trippletail. I was asking for info from people who been out with them. If they won't cancel due to weather - ill have a report Monday by lunch time.

You will enjoy the Flying Hub 2, beautiful, fast boat captained by Capt Joey Drew. Give us a report about your trip. BTW, I have been working at Hubbard's the past 6 years as their fishing reel repairman. ps: after reading the previous posts, the Flying Hub 2 may not go in rougher water because it cannot run at high speeds in it. Call Capt Dylan though to be sure. Also, you have the right tackle ready for it. If it does cancel due to rough weather hope you can rebook for a calmer day.

You can bring pitch rod.. they recommend only bring 2 but you are a customer... They won't yell or scream at you for bring three. Not a lot of room on board. You will be using only 1 rod and the other rod strow in the back on top.
I have been on the boat... so I know.
