My Girlfriend & I went to NS Pier yesterday evening -(Friday -11-3) about 7:00pm for some Grouper Fishing. We stayed until about midnight at the end of the pier. Well the Grouper were not biting but the Ladyfish were. Several People filled their buckets with the Ladyfish. There was some small bait in the area. Several Rays were also landed onto the Pier. The water was very dirty as the Tide came in. It was a beautiful Full Moon night to Fish.

MM: I listened to WFLA 970 AM this morning. They said the NSP waters were dirty, while the SSP was more clear.

The NS Pier usually is dirtier than the SS Pier due to the Channel Curvature towards the City of Tampa & the East Side of Pinellas County. The Channel is also a little bit deeper on the West Side of Tampa Bay. I also feel that there is more of a Tide Flow on the West Side of Tampa Bay which will attract more Fish such as Grouper & Kings. The SS Pier is a more of a Convenience to all because it is longer and more room to spread out and Fish. The SS Pier usually attracts more Boaters than the NS Pier attempting to get bait. Don't get Me wrong, throughout the Years I have seen a lot of Fish caught at the SS Pier. That is why I Fish more Frequently at the SS Pier.

I usually fish the south just for the convenience of having some space. I tried last week right after the front for some kings and grouper. Only got one grouper about 18 inches he actually hit a little blue I put out on the kingfish rig, smacked it as soon as it hit the water and caught me by surprise. The dolphin were relentless and I eventually left because I just couldn't deal with them anymore. I couldn't keep a bait in the water. I love dolphin they are amazing creatures but I was so frustrated if someone had a gun and shot them I would have cheered.

When reeling Your Catch in when the Dolphins are around, You just have to reel faster than the Dolphins can swim unfortunately.
