Hi All,
Havn't had the time to get out and do some pier fishing, been fishing locally in Dunedin out on the causeway. Finally got some time on my hands (Work), and have a plan to head out Friday afternoon to try and pull an overnighter into the morning! Thought I would hop on here and see if/what is everyone catching, more specifically at night?

How has Dunedin Causeway been. That is close for me but I heard not much biting The fishing isn't too bad out there! I have been catching Mangroves and undersized grouper (Biggest one out there this year was 21 inches). Using small pinfish I net off of the beach, and cutbait (Threadfins). Go up on the second bridge, the one after the toll bridge, before you go out to honeymoon island. Make sure you fish a high tide going out. I tried a few low tides coming in, but didn't go so well for how I was fishing. I have snagged into some Mackerel up there. A shark here and there, and a Tarpon, which my 20lb test had no chance of hold on to. I usually use anywhere from a #1 to a 2/O size hook, seems to work great for inshore Mangroves. Lastly, I have to give credit about this information to montylfl. He provided me with some advice and it's been working great. I have fished that causeway since I was 9 months old with my father. Never ONCE did we fish that bridge besides catching bait to go to honeymoon. Just goes to show, sometimes the fish can be right under you and you don't even realize it.

There are also Plenty of Snook & Snapper & Trout & Mackerel & Pompano around that Bridge as well. Everyone just put into Your Heads, "2 Hours Before to 2 Hours After High Tide" is when to catch most Fish out there. I know because through out the years, that is when I have had my Best Luck there. Fish On & Fill Those Buckets & Coolers with Those Tasty Seafood Treats.

I should be at NSP later tonight with my wife and daughter. Hoping to try out a new triple bucktail rig I've put together. We caught some huge sail cats there last weekend when it was windy and cold. Hooked up 12 keepers and two trout and whiting along with a stone crab that a nice size.

I fished the Dunedin Causeway, south side, near the 2nd bridge on Thursday. About 150 yards offshore from the kayak rental place in my kayak on an outgoing tide. Used DOA Cal shads (root beer, chartreuse tail) and Gulp shrimp (New Penny 3"). Caught 15-18 trout, including 4 or 5 keepers.
