It was my day to miss.
Had a mega hit on my gotcha and or not through 40 pound braid.
Had my rods with greenbacks in the drain hopes and my heavy one was waving like the dude on the deck of an aircraft carrier. I go to reach for it and hear that loud SNAP of 20 pound mono snapping.
Saw a mack hit my shrimp as it hit the water... He swam at me and jumped, too much slack... Gone
I only landed a grunt and blue runner
As that happened a snagged pelican went under,me with the tide. I called the bird help line. No answer, voicemail full. He was headed toward fort Desoto. Call me what you want, but I just could not fish much more after that. I'm gonna buy a net so I can help him, I thought about snagging him too, but he started swimming with the tide
Saw plenty of macks, some, where caught, snapper and sharks too.

That's why it's called 'fishing' and not 'catching'. I feel your pain. My last trip was almost a clone of yours, with the addition of someone crossing my greenback line and 'setting the hook!' which snatched my rod out of the holder and broke the tip. "Couldn't see your bobber!" Fishing, not catching. Another ol' saw is: "A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work!"
