Any recommendations on a good blank for a conventional kingfish rod? Would a 20-40 blank be too heavy or would a 15-40 be better?

I'm trying for a King this year, and from all I've read the 15-40 should be sufficient.
I haven't caught one yet, but much of the info I've read recommends between 17 and 25lb main line, 7-8' rod with sensitive tip and enough backbone, and perhaps most importantly, enough line to allow a long initial run; say 300 yards min.
Someone will be along soon to disagree, just hold tight! ;-)
Good luck!
ETA: I meant to say "15-30 lb should be sufficient" but either will suffice.
