We are looking at moving to the Tampa area and wanted to check the area out. I am definitely planning to check out the pier and do some fishing. Got my license , tackle, rods and ready to go. Hope the weather cooperates but the fish won't mind if it rains. Any tips would be awesome. I plan to buy some squid but will catch my own bait with a sabiki or cast net.

If you do decide to move here I suggest you rent for a year until you decide what you really enjoy doing in Florida.

Good advice from Monty. Rent for awhile and explore the area and see where you want to live. Take a tip from me and find a place on high ground (non-evacuation zone!). Friends come to stay with me when the storms force people to leave.

but being only 12 foot above sea level has it's advantages
less nose bleeds no need for oxygen until 16 foot less wear and tear on the cars not having to go up hills all the time get to stay at friends house for free some days in summer Oh... got no friends. will have to ride it out, BUT! can go fishing from back door if the surge and the moon are aligned right

I can Fish and maybe hook You as You are floating or swimming with the Fish. FISH ON !
