I was fishing on the intracoastal behind Indian Shore this morning and had a cicada fly into me. I thought, what the heck they must fly into the water, fish must eat them. In less than 30 seconds I had a 16" Snook on the line. I had been fishing in that spot for over an hour, using shrimp, with not even a nibble. Guess they don't like shrimp.

And I bet his mom told him if he didn't want the shrimp then he is obviously not hungry. Parents don't remember what it's like being 16.

I fish there all the time. It's called the narrows or something, it is almost right behind my house. I normally fish off of the pier on the nature walk. I will try this out.

I netted a few 3" to 4" mullet and used those this evening. I caught three Speckled Trout. One was a keeper.

Makes sense as a lot of freshwater fish love cicadas. One of the best topwater I ever used for bass was one that intimated a bug on the surface.

Makes sense as a lot of freshwater fish love cicadas. One of the best topwater I ever used for bass was one that intimated a bug on the surface. There is a pond behind my house. Started fishing it as soon as I moved in. I was using night crawlers, never caught a thing. But I could see the big Blue Gills in there. Then I thought, this as a pond filled after they built the community. All the top soil was removed leaving just clay. Grass and plants just don't grow and there were no night crawlers in the soil. I figured that these fish have never seen a night crawler. So I caught a few Grass Hoppers in the vegetation by the pond and WHAMO huge fish in seconds and some of them bass. Fish eat what they are use to and ignore what the don't recognize. Behind Indian Shores I have caught a few Snook, two Reds and three Sea Trout, all caught on the little Mullet I catch by the pier. I have caught nothing but Pinfish on Shrimp.
