Fished the north pier from 7:30-noon. Broken off a few times as soon as I arrived under the pier with live shrimp. Lots of bait around. Cut greenbacks out on the rockpiles worked best for snapper. Took home 3 10" lane and 1 12" mangrove. Helped a guy next to me land a 50" nurse shark as I was leaving.

Great report- thanks! Glad you caught some keepers.. I have seen lots of nurse sharks down on the very shallow end of the pier- makes sense they would be up and down the entire length.....funny story - I was at Sebastian Inlet one late spring day in the 80's and and I loaned a frantic guy my big jetty gaff to land his friends "HUGE shark"!! After i reeled in I walked down to see whats happening and there are like 3 big guys hauling this fish up with my gaff. As i got closer I saw them throw this 5 foot Nurse Shark up on the pier. They are all whooping and hollering- high fives flying everywhere! I walk over to get my gaff back and they ask me what kind of shark it was- I tell them a Nurse Shark and explain they are mostly a slower docile shark . He told me they were all down from New Jersey and they loved to catch and eat sharks. I told him I didnt think they were highly regarded as a food fish but he just kind of scoffed me off. I went back about my business and ended up leaving about an hour later. As I walked up on their spot I saw they had filleted that poor fish and one of the guys was sharpening a knife and I could not help myself...I asked "gonna eat that big "un huh?" He smiled and said "Oh yeah!!...headed to the motel to grill this baby up..........just as soon as I take out the JAWS!!" Again- self refrain is not my strong suit...I said_ "Brother - you're in for a BIG surprise" and walked on.....chuckled all the way back to St Cloud...wondering how that fish tasted after laying on cement for an hour.........

Huh... you'd think if they ate shark they would know to bleed and ice the shark immiedately. I wonder if they enjoyed the ammonia flavor.

Nothing like a p!$$ tasting shark steak! If a nurse shark can even be that high of a quality tablefare!
You didn't mention if you got your gaff back.
It takes all kinds at Sebastian though...
