Got to the pier about 9am, Bait was running pretty deep and in scattered schools (In my area). Started off throwing some live greenis and chunks in hopes of a decent snapper bite but no such luck. So I set out two live pinfish to soak while a did a bit of gotcha plugging. Macks were running in schools of 10-15 up and down the pier, but no takers on my gotcha. Noticed a few guys down the way fishing what looked like straw lures under a cork with decent luck. So I proceeded to do the same (but used a small crocodile spoon) Started landing the gotcha leery macks and skip jack that had been schooling below. Fish were all very small and thin. Managed 1 decent mack and ended up giving it to a guy near the entrance when I made my exit. The man next to me ended up with about 8 fish in the 14 inch range. In between all the fun one of my grouper poles goes off. Do my normal thing and nothing. Pinfish was shredded (normal grouper attack marks) But my circle hook embedded itself into my bait..... God I miss using a good ol'e 9/0 owner...... Fun day, many small macks, skip jack ,1 small red grouper, key west grunt and swarms of pinfish. Headed home before the storms. No fish pics but a few sky shots. Tight lines Haven't taken the time to download my photo editing software yet so panoramas today. If any one wants to try the task, that would be cool.
