Got to the north pier at 8 pm- man at the ticket booth said "were pretty crowded- thought I'd tell you before you pay" -First time I've ever had an attendant tell me that. Pier was busy but found a spot down by the baithouse pretty quick. I had 20-22 nice hand- sized pinfish I had caught earlier so I was feeling good about bait but Mr Sabiki and I went and looked for some big greenbacks anyway. After 30 minutes all i had were two medium GBs and a dozen whitebait- rare for me to get them. Tide was headed out.... Fished the next three hours in 4 different spots and never had a solid run.....even though most baits stayed nervous the entire time - very disappointing! .........Lots of grass in the water- but wasnt bad enough to interfere with freelining. Saw very little action period- at least in the sections i was at- amazing how many unattended lines were in the water- I counted 14 in a row at one point- not a soul around. all in all a slow evening until rain and lightening chased me home at 11

As I have been saying in other Posts, the Water is too warm right now for most Fish to bite at this time. At this time of Year when You catch anything, You have to automatically put it on Ice after soaking in Seawater for a few minutes instead of putting it in a bucket of Seawater like normal. That is how warm the water is right now else Your catch will spoil. After August is over, Fishing always Picks Up when the Water Temperature begins to fall. If Anyone catches anything at this time of Year, You are Lucky !

I still think there should be a 2 rod limit enforced, especially on weekends. I do admire you braving it, though. I'd shy away from weekends, though I know that's the only time for some to get out there. D

I was out Saturday evening on the north side also, packed was almost an understatement for how many people were out lol. I used live regular size shrimp, 3/4oz weight on top of a swivel, 2' of 20lb fluorocarbon, and a 2/0 Gamakatsu octopus hook threaded down the tail through the whole shrimp. SLAYED MANGROVES ALL NIGHT. Couldn't find any over 14" but I caught enough keepers I could of filled my limit 5 times. All from 8:30p-2am roughly. Mostly outgoing tide but even some through the slack tide and into incoming tide. Sunday morning as the tide was going out again, freelined some pinfish hooked in the anus. Getting hammered every time but couldn't make it happen as I got pulled in rocks, got broken off, and pulled hooks. Next time I'm going to get my snapper limit real quick and just stop screwing around so I can have more time freelining pin fish.

Nice report sweetwaterdazeag. I have always had success on the NSP. We went Friday night out to the SSP because a friend of mine is terrified to drive over the bridge. Glad you caught your limit!

Nice... usually when it's packed my experience is that the bite slows down for me. That's a pretty active night of fishing, I'm kinda jealous.
