We are going to key west on the 25th. Does anyone know if there are any piers like the ssp?

Don't think there are any pier but there are some bridges that you can fish on.

I have been to key west a few years back and I didn't see a single pier but you can simply just walk to any edge and fish, that's what I did😂

Last time I was down there this time of year I had to fish with only medium shrimp, any pinfish, cutbait, or large shrimp was immediately inhaled by tarpon when fishing from a bridge. If you can get a small pinfish down past the tarpon the bridges are loaded with snapper, (1 day I caught 5 mangrove over 20"). Its harder to find good bridges to fish from cuz a lot of them are now completely closed. Note to self- if you buy pinfish double check you got pinfish- last time the baitshop gave me 2 tiny yellowtail snapper and a lane snapper.

Justfish,
You would think the bait shops would know their fish. How dumb and illegal to use fish with size limits as bait. I am not sure of the yellowtail size limit but I know lanes have to be 8 inches minimum. I do not see any info on yellowtail snapper minimum lengths or bag limits in the most recent regulations booklet.

I was in Key Marathon several years ago and we didn't have trouble with Tarpon. I caught a number of fish I couldn't identify at the time and threw them back even though I probably could have kept them. Caught some keeper Snapper and Sheepshead around the columns and a couple of Snook in the early morning along the shore. I like the keys but it's not easy to get into the timeshares down there.

That bait shop was captain Hooks in marathon. Nice people just need to regulate better. I love the variety of fish we always catch down there, so make sure you have the regulations and fish book handy. Anything from porkfish and lookdown to snapper and snook and everything in between.
