Tackle Box Survey, just to let my friend see that there are people besides myself who own more than one tackle box for different kinds of fishing, both in saltwater and freshwater.

I have a Master box that stays at home ..... keep the bulk of my stuff in there and dispense from this to my other two boxes buy hooks and stuff in bulk quantities and helps keep things from rusting
A small flip top box with 3 drawers that pop open when you open the top , this is my pier box
A Plano organizer that I use when on a party boat pre-cut leaders , swivels and hooks.

How does bulk buying keep things from rusting, Aussieguy? My stuff still rusts. Do tell!
I've got a big reorganization plan this weekend for my garage. 90% will be accomplished by reorganizing my fishing stuff. I've got my big box which I'm going to try to make it a "stock" box. I have 3 options for mobility. 1 soft tackle I can sling over a shoulder and two 5 gallon bucket toppers. The bucket toppers are really cool and I recommend them. You convert it to a bait bucket/tackle combo setup if you want. Can sit on it even. But it is top heavy loaded with tackle snapped to an empty bucket.
This is an interesting post since there are so many options to purchase and a lot of people's customization. With the various fishing we do: pier, beach, boat, fresh or marine, the days of hauling a big ol box around are in the past.

I own one saltwater and one freshwater. I have many many bins to slide into the boxes based on the place I'm fishing. They are both Plano 1374-01s with 3750 storage boxes. It can hold 4. I must have 10 storage boxes just for salt water. The extras I store in a Rubbermaid bid and will take that with me and leave it in the truck when I go to places like the Skyway and need a larger variety of stuff. But most of the time I only need the 4 that fit in the tackle box.

I never seem to have enough Storage for Fishing Items but I am prepared for All Fishing Occasions.

How does bulk buying keep things from rusting, Aussieguy? My stuff still rusts. Do tell! Buy in bulk .... keep the majority of the bulk items in the tackle box that stays in the garage this box NEVER sees water keep the hooks in ziplock bags (optional) I also have a couple of them water absorption packets in the box just to cope with this crappy Florida humidity... the boxes I take to the water is another story.. things can go rusty in there pretty easy so I only keep minimum in there and top them up from the garage box when needed

bait bucket topper storage
interesting concept ... keep hooks etc in directly over water them boxes better have real good seals on them.
bet the guy who came up with that idea has shares in a hook / swivel company

I keep all hooks, swivels, sleeves, beads, etc. in zip lock pouches. Not just to protect them, but because I'm OCD. If it can't be compartmentalized it's got to go. Lol

Take out only a few hooks, etc. And BINGO on dessicant packs! We toss them out at work. Guess I gotta save a few (along with the Styrofoam boxes). D

Hooks, swivels, beads, lures etc I keep in plano style plastic containers with separators. Then I put the and scissors, plyers and other small gear into a tackle bag. I try to keep a minimalist approach when I go fishing these days. Less to pack/unpack/clean. Especially when I'm on the pier and wanna move spot to spot. The bag I'm currently using is a SpiderWire Wolf Tackle Bag. I wouldn't have bought it for myself, my girlfriend got it as a gift but I love it enough now I will probably get another when this one wears out. And I stole it as a gift idea for my dad on father's day lol.

I have loads.
My fav is a bag pack that my wife bought me from Bass Pro, it's a back pack with a built in cooler. Good enough for a days fishing. I can fit a 4 or 5 3600 sized boxes on compartment.
I don't bother with the hard tackle boxes, I have few dry bag types which I prefer, I use the Plano waterproof boxes 3700 in them.

I have 2 boxes that I use primarily. I have another small box at home that can be switched over to use. The 2 that I use primarily are a flip My Lid Lid Locker that opens with 2 tiers and the bottom. There is also a compartment on the top that opens up separately. The other one is smaller and is a Flambeau with a lift out tray.
The Lid Locker tackle box does have a ruler on one of the trays when it is opened up.

I have seen some people out on the piers using tool boxes as tackle boxes. Some of the tool boxes have wheels and have a couple boxes stacked on tope of each other. I think I have seen a couple of those at Walmart. I know tool boxes are available also at Home Depot and Loews or Lowes. The smaller boxes that fit into the soft sided tackle bags I think would also work in the tool boxes.

With that many boxes I'd hate to see home many rods you have. lol Ooh no! Another subject for SN...lol. D haha, I have rods like most women have shoes. When I head out I take out a xxheavy shark/Grouper rod, a heavy snook rod (conventional) heavy spinner, Medium spinner and light spinner. Like the rods the tackle boxes are for each different fishing trip. I have small tackle box set up if I'm just taking one rod, then there's offshore, boat, beach, then there's a tackle box for sharks or Goliath. A little obsessive, but less fussing time when it's time to go fishing. The 4 or more hard tackle boxes I have are really storage as I think they are pain to lug around. It's easier to have the weather proof soft bags you can switch out the boxes in. When I work the pier down here in Lee County I try to have a bunch of various tackle and tools. It's sods law that I'll need something I didn't bring.

I have about 20 tackle boxes. Some empty, some with stuff I no longer use, and others I do.
How did i get so many, easy I don't throw any of them out. I also aquire many when I go picking. Especially older metal ones. I never open them until I get home. Got some great finds that way.

Lately I try to go as light as possible and use several different tackle boxes for storage at the house. Then I just toss what's going with me in a bucket with a lid and hit the road. I could probably be more organized I suppose.

I could probably be more organized I suppose. That's kind of where I'm going. I have to mentally set aside the thought that I need everything. Just target 2 species and take what I need and hit the road. If something is hitting I didn't plan for and don't have the tackle to change over to, so be it. Ah, easier said than done! But I'm getting there like you, yeehazing... D

I have at least 6-7 boxes and or tackle organizers w Plano box's. Got bass box's, northern pike box's, ton's of plastic crap, Gulp box's and bags, 2 salt water box's. And got two box's my neighbors gave me. I have at least 16 rods and reels hanging in the garage and more than a dozen rods in 8" round shipping tubes. I live in Fort Myers and fish 1 day a week, don't catch jack except in the winter. Some day I'll find a kid who's really into fishing and give him some. I have vintage Rapalas in crawfish patterns they dont make anymore. A lifetime of selfish investment !

Thanks for the laugh, MM!I thought that a Few people would like that. I have a Small Car & that is what it looks like when I load up for a Fishing Adventure. You just never know what You might need. As I have always said, "It is better to have it, than not having it".
