I hope you guys have been doing better than I have. It's been tough lately. My last trip resulted in 1 keeper snapper and today's trip resulted only 2 keeper snapper. Definitely not what I'm used to out there this time of year. I'm reading and hearing reports of snapper all over the bay, but I'm not seeing them like years past. Oh well it beat being at work today! Fresh sushi will hold me over until my next trip out there. Tight lines!!

I hear bman, my trips have been hit or miss... what are you using for bait by the way?

Mostly live shrimp. The tide was moving too fast to sabiki up greenbacks and the bridge claimed my last castnet. So I'm kinda hesitant on throwing my new one.. lol..

Were you fishing SSP? I know it is not what you are used to, but at least you got some snapper.

I can relate. This past weekend 1 grunt, 1 undersized sea bass. This is where snappers were biting day before. I did see 1 undersize mango go back though. Disappointing fish-wise, but nice day to get out. But it has been rough. D

I think there is too much fishing pressure out there these days.

The SS Pier claimed a 10' 1/4" Net of Mine last Year so I know what You Mean. Now with My New Net I am only Casting on an Outgoing Tide.

I checked the water temps and Gulf is 89 F. Is the water warmth throwing off the fishing? Any thoughts from the experienced anglers...mackerelman, tears et al?
I think we need the return of the easterly flow with evening T storms and some more overnight cooling and up welling of the waters along our coast.

The Warm Water is going to Move the Fish Towards Structure & Under Bridges away from the Sunlight.
The Fish do what We All do when it is Hot; "Go For The Shade & Deep Water Where the Water is Cooler !"

Maybe the water is too hot. I always thought they were heat tolerant. It's probably a combo of heat and pressure. It's about that time for the summer spawn so hopefully some bigger ones will show up in the next few weeks.
