Started around 7 am, Ft Desoto ramp had light traffic, flats were full of bait, pins and grunts, went to N E side of channel, I watched videos of how to find the caves with a cheap depth finder and it worked, 18 and 20" gags came in fast, then a guy anchored right beside me, 10' away so I moved and got one more and the same thing, another boat at 10' away, switched to trolling lurers and nailed a 21" red grouper. Too dangerous for me with all the boat traffic, people up on plane flying dive flags, people cutting other boats off, seen two boats go under Ft Desoto bridge at about 80 mph witch is very stupid and dangerous. Then of course the follies at the ramp to get out, seems people with expensive boats think they have the right of way. Anyways got my first keeper Grouper for the year and we ate half of him last night with bbq chicken and sides, and of course cold beer. The other half will be gone tonight. Next trip vhf antenna is coming down and bimini is going up!

Fantastic Report !
Some Boat Owners can be Real Jerks.
If they See that You are Pulling up Fish, Most of the Time they are Very Disrespectful and They will move You right out of Your Spot.
It is Really Sad that People are like that.

Nice catch with that Red Grouper! Wow, it sure sounds dangerous out there with nuts driving boats. I bet some were under the influence. Glad you made it back home ok.

My stepson and I were at the NSP at about 7:45am yesterday. tons of bait which meant all the boats were like 15ft from the pier. No-one on the pier was catching anything. I saw 1 bait ball explode but by the time i got me mack gear they were gone. We left about 11.

It was this time last year I got into it with a jackwagon punk with his boat. He literally drifted right in front of me as I was casting and told me they'd be done in a minute. Words were said and threats made. But when a jack enters your cast zone, then drifts up to under your feet throwing his net, someone's asking for trouble!
I just avoid it all on holidays, especially summer ones. Too many people own the pier, own the water, own the right, own the whatever. And it's not alcohol induced. Just that the psyche wards must let out on holidays.
D Fill yet buckets...I'm cleaning my bucket July 4...!
