I found a new fish repellant to add to the list with drop nets and coolers with ice to put the catch in.
A dehooking device. While surf fishing in Maryland I always have to deal with unhooking rays and skates. They are a pain, so I decided to get the Mustad Dehooking device to help with that. I fished 14 hours yesterday, through both high tides and didn't even get one bit. I'm leaving that thing home too, the next time I go fishing! LOL

yodafisherman: Where did you fish? Reminds me of last trip when I went to Sand Key. I brought a long nosed dehooker, an extra long knife and a hammer as I tried for shark. You guessed it. Nice pan fish but nada in the shark. LOL.

I had the same issue with a fighting belt, it stays at home, then I need it, I bring it and it will never get used.
My buddy brought a new xlarge landing net as we get some big snook down here, he is yet to put a fish he caught in it, it's served a most of the guys he fishes well over the past month. (nice net Frabill conservation series, you can get a 40inch snook with room in it)
Dehookers are worth bringing, catfish, rays, sharks and venomous fish. In the past 4 fishing trips I have see 2 catfish pokes, 1 stingray and 2 skipjack/yellow tail stings.

I have a new surf rod, it has a longer handle than my others and needed a fighting belt to handle properly. I haven't caught anything substantial with it yet.
