Got the SSP around 5:30PM Monday night. Tired to target mackerel using MM's setup for about an hour, big fat zero. Casted a few different locations... maybe to late into the outgoing tide, maybe wrong spoon (Dick's didn't have the Clarkspoon available) and just need more practice. Switched over to my fish finder rig with a 1 oz weight and hooked up 3 mangos and 2 lanes in about an hour. The bite went cold and moved down about 90 feet and hit two more mangos in 10 minutes. Switched over to free lining a pin fish til about 9:30PM. Called it an evening, grabbed some pancakes at iHOP and home by 11:30PM. The little Lane Snapper was just at 9 inches.

Nice catch!!! Did you see anybody over there catching mackerel? Thanks. No body catching or casting for macks around me . It was not very busy on the front half of SSP. Not sure what was going on the back half. I like walking around without interferingor intruding on other fisher's areas... A lot of open space when I was there.

imac813: Nice catch of snapper! Lanes don't run very large and often not easy to get keepers on the piers.

Nice haul! My last trip out there resulted in 1 keeper snapper but mostly me either getting snagged or flipper stealing the catch.

I've done some inshore and offshore fishing but mostly pier fishing. Maybe some of the seasoned vets could give better advice.
