So SkyJay almost post these pictures of huge offshore fishes he catches! He can only do that because he knows the spot. So When he isn't looking I placed a GPS tracker on him and this is the result! If you want these number PM me! The big scamp is almost 30"! I only caught 3 of the groupers. The firetruck, and the 2 scamps. The ARS was given to me because the other group doesn't want it. I was just kidding about placing a tracker on Skyway. Went on the 12 hours extreme trip with Hubbard today! Was aiming for ARS but ended with these trophy groupers! The ride out is smooth and also the ride in! It is a very unique experiences. Always get your own bait for party boat. All the fish was either caught on live small pin or small grunts or small sugar trout.

Great catch Tears143!
I used to work at the bait shop at Hubbard's from summer of 1986 until about 1992 when I went full time at another job. Skyjay used to go out on the overnight trips and remembers me. They run a good operation. Mark is the owner now and his son Dylan is the General Manager I think. He may have a different title. They are keeping Wilson Hubbard's (Mark's Dad and Dylan's Grandfather vision going and taking it beyond. Many family members have been involved over the years with the operation of the marina and Friendly Fisherman restaurant. They have expanded their fleet of boats a lot since I first moved here and offer many more trips than in the past. They have added The Hub, the Flying Hub, Flying Hub 2, Mrs. Hub just to name a few. They have also added the Egmont Key Ferry, Tampa Bay Ferry which makes several stops around Madeira Beach, Treasure Island, St Pete Beach and Jungle Prada on Park St at the boat ramp next to the Panfilo de Narvaez Indian Midden.

Great Job! Now cook the cheeks! Grouper cheeks are delicious. That meat is wasted by people not in the know. I learned about cutting them out from Kim Nachman of Nachman's Native Seafood. Kim used to buy the fish from the fisherman off the overnight boats when they came in at Hubbard's. Kim supplied fish to many restaurants including the Friendly Fisherman. I am not sure if he still has a store. He used to supply fish and fish spread to The Reef fish market across from the Lobster Pot in one of the Reddington's. I do not know if he still does.

I am Asian I do not fillet the fish. Nothing goes to waste... but I do waste the guts and gills though.. :-p
