I began Fishing at 6:15am. this Morning with the Outgoing Tide. My 2nd Cast, I pulled in a 14: Mack My Next Cast, Another 14" Mack. Two More Casts, I pulled in another 14" Mack. And another Cast, I pulled in another 14" Mack. Next Cast, BIG "0". If You have not Figured it out Yet; In 15 Minutes I caught 4 - 14" Macks. I did not Pull any more Macks until the Tide Turned around Again. Just Repeat the Above First 4 Casts for between 3pm. & 5 pm. I ended up with 8 - 14" Macks. The Macks are there on the Bottom. I think that they are trying to stay Cool in the Water. You just have to know how to Find Them. It is Up in the Sticky Section. Believe Me, My Way of Pulling them in Works. Those of You that Knows My Way of Catching them will Testify that it Works. The Key Word for the Day is "OUTGOING TIDE" will get You the Macks.

Nice job? Spoons I take it? Did you shorten your leader to keep them deeper or go with the usual MM setup?

met up with MM at 1Pm loaded up on pinfish for bait
flipper stole 50% of em
had a great laugh when MM had a mackerel stolen from him by flipper just as he got the mack to the pier flipper expertly released it for MM I think it was flipper's way of telling MM this one is under size
oh BTW went home empty handed .... again

I think that Flipper just wanted Me to Share with Him. It's like the Government & IRS & Insurance. Always Needing a Percentage !

Some of You may be Wondering why the Mackerel are Only Biting on the Outgoing Tide. The Answer is Simple. 1. The Mackerel did not Migrate this Year due to the Warm Winter & Warm Water Temperatures in which We had this Year. 2. The Female Mackerel are in the Tampa Bay Area Flats & Rivers & Creeks laying Eggs. This is What the Mackerel do. a. The Proof of that comes from the Person who caught the Large Female Mackerel a Couple of Weeks ago in a Boat in the Bay. 3. Tampa Bay & the Gulf of Mexico is Very Warm Right Now with the Water Temperatures are in the 80's and the Mackerel are staying low in the Water Column and are Only Moving on the Out-Going Tide Note: When You Catch the Mackerel, Put them in a Bucket of Water for about 30 Minutes to Let them Bleed & then Put them on Ice. 1. If You Don't, they will be Spoiled before You get them Home. I lost 2 Mackerel Yesterday because I Did Not Ice them Down. A. You will Notice that the Meat will be Real Soft & the Mackerel Will Give out that Spoiled Smell when You Cut Into them. B. Do Not Cook Them or Eat Them if they are like that. Just go out Fishing for them Again. There are More Mackerel out There. Enjoy Getting Out and Going Fishing & Good Luck Too ALL !

Good advice on keeping fish cold, mackerelman. I toss everything in an iced cooler. And oily fish like macks and blue fish spoil fast otherwise!
