Yep. No yanking your pole. This is not bass fishing. This is one of the best tips you can remember. I tried to tell this to my buddy and his wife the other day and they still kept trying to yank them out. I gave up and just kept reeling in fish as they kept reeling in empty hooks!

When You Yank, You will usually take the Hook Right Out of the Fish's Mouth. As SkyJay has said many times, "Just Reel". I have seen many People on Boats out in the Deep Water & they Reel in "Empty Hooks" and They Wonder & Ask "Why Are They Reeling in Empty Hooks ?". Most of them are a Bunch of Amateurs or Know Nothing about Fishing in a Boat in the Deep Water. I Just Smile & Shake My Head at Them & Tell Them: "DON'T YANK & Maybe You Will Catch Something !"

Us former Yankees tend to yank.
That's why you let circle hooks do their thing. As a fish tries to run and spit it out, it comes out and lodges in the jaw due to the bend and shape. If all goes right.
It was a hard habit to kick.
