TY You can tip the sabiki with either shrimp or pieces if Gulp if you're targeting larger bait like pin fish and possible grunts. The sabiki's with the feathers and gold hooks are good for threadfins if they're in the area. I've hooked a 10" Jack Crevalle before on a sabiki, that was interesting reeling that line back in.

I don't use a sabiki for pin fish, if the current is running fast
instead I use a free running egg sinker + swivel + 12 - 18 inches of leader + very small long shank hook Sinker weight depends on the current strength it must be enough to keep the bait on the bottom The current around the piers can be real strong !
use a small piece of squid
Pinfish / grunts were hard to find last week, had to move around a lot to find them using this setup I was catching bait at a rate of 20 : 1 over a poor guy using a sabiki right next to me (won't mention his name MM he he he he)

I use my sabikis for mackerel, jack, blues and whatever else may be running through. I use very large hooks. Size 26. Main line is 60# and branch line is 50#. If I happen across some shrimp or squid I will tip the hooks, if not, I do just as well without.

What hook size do you guys use in your sabiki rigs? As for Me, I use the One in the Picture because it is Easier to Get the Pinfish & Grunts off the #16 Hook plus I have Less Break-Offs. Also if You run into a Mack, this one may Save the Day.
