since the start of the 2017 grouper season, ive been fishing twice so far and have limited out both trips. the bite is hot right now but i dont know how long its going to last. i think all this rain and scattered storms is bring in cooler weather and it is making the groupers very aggressive right now. almost every bait is getting hit, form pinfish to grunts. free lining is always my favorite way to catch them but i have also been getting monster hits just dropping down cut threadfins and live pinfish with a 3oz sinker. hope everyone gets a chance to get out there and get some lines wet Heres my latest video youtu.be/Ad-kIjAiPLE

Great video! You really worked them in. Not many people out there fishing, you had lots of room. Good to see grouper being caught at the Skyway.

Big stuff, how much leader for #130 do you use. Are you letting your bait get into the reefs and digging them out as opposed to drifting outside the edges of the reefs? Again, nice work! D

D yeah got to use heavy leader because the rocks out there are no joke, i use about three feet of leader. once you hook up its a battle either you get him or he gets you! i do both, i try to drift each side of the reef and right on top.

I don't use a sabiki for pin fish, if the current is running fast
instead I use a free running egg sinker + swivel + 12 - 18 inches of leader + very small long shank hook Sinker weight depends on the current strength it must be enough to keep the bait on the bottom The current around the piers can be real strong !
use a small piece of squid
Pinfish / grunts were hard to find last week, had to move around a lot to find them using this setup I was catching bait at a rate of 20 : 1 over a poor guy using a sabiki right next to me (won't mention his name MM he he he he)

I only got 1 Grunt on a Sabiki compared to his Method Catching 20. The Bait Fish acted strange last week. It was the First Time that I have seen a Single Hook Beat a Sabiki.

When using the Sabiki rigs for catching bait, what to you bait THEM with? TY shrimp works the best, but you can use squid or even cut the green backs really small pieces
