The rains are over after a rare cold front went through today. I went to the piers at Sand Key park to check the water. It was murky and silty. The anglers there were catching catfish, burr fish and other junk fish. I did not bother to fish.
So the water might not be the best at the Skyway either as the winds are still high at the Skyway now. Winds will die off tonight. I wish you luck tomorrow!

The last Sardines I bought were mushy, I put them in a small cooler with ice and rock salt to firm them up, you want them as firm as possible using them at the pier I suggest doing it to at least half of them or the pins will steal them before the Gags can get them. Regardless, good luck to all!

The 4 grouper that I know that was pulled from skyway is freelining live pin or grunt but that's before the front.

should be a good day to get a box of frozen Spanish Sardines and soak em on the bottom in the rockpiles for a Keeper Gag. I read on a report from Big Mike, that the majority of the bigger Grouper are being taken this way vs freelining so far this season. of course having said that, this too could be fake news considering I'm sharing it third party to the person who probably knows more about the Skyway Piers resident fish population, and their little nuances regarding weather and the manner in which they feed. I do know in years past I've had some great dead bait days for Grouper, and Mango Snapper following late season fronts. Hopefully we can finally settle in to some consistent summertime weather and get this bite going now. Best of luck to you all. First chance I get I plan to get out there and see if I can dig me a Gag or three. fish on! It is fake news, Foghorn. That stuff in Mike's facebook is Capt Mel's drivel. Cut and pasted. Also said Pompano are on the uptick at SSP too...lol. I'm not saying nothing is being caught as I certainly don't know as I've been landlocked, but Big Mike/Capt Mel is certifiable Fake News. Take it with a grain of salt (more like a hunk). D

Now this guy is NOT Fake News! I'm watching him and his "video reports" on YouTube. Seeing is believing, not some cut-n-paste from a shilling Facebook post. Thanks for the link. D ...When will the OT stop???

Pompano did show up at ssp.. most of them small some keepers.
Yes, take everything with gain of salt. Might be good one day.. and horrible the next. If you have time to fish.. just go out there and enjoy it. Most of the time it's about relaxing and enjoying it more than catching. Ofcourse catching always helps alot!
