Thinking about making a trip to the pier just wanted to know if anybody has seen or caught any keeper grouper yet? Or any macks out there?

I'm also interested. I'll be out there tonight to try for snapper and grouper. I saw a skyway report from capt Mel that said a good amount of both were being caught.

Plenty of threadfin and pinfish last night. Water was murky from the rains. It rained pretty much all night off and on. The tide was weak the whole 9 hours I was out there. Managed to get 2 short grouper (like 14-16 inches) and several short mangos. No keepers for the night. Didn't see anyone else catching anything. Hopefully the snapper fishing will pick up. The past summers I have been able to limit on good sized snapper pretty quick.

i was out there for about an hour, saturday night fishing in between the spans, where i found a opening...south pier was packed. Managed 2 12" snappers before the storms came through and called it early trip. The snapper are out there,...i was using live shrimp...with the incoming tide and lack of opens spots to fish, i didn't have a chance to try for grouper.

I think his name is Paul. Paul Bristoe. He is on occasionally with Captain Mike Anderson early Saturday am's on WFLA 970 AM. Captain Mel had a lot of credibility. The current writer does not have this. |

Grouper was biting like crazy today... probably won't be the same tomorrow. Probably due to the weather.
