Hey Guys Long time reader of this forum and new posting been out a couple times last week at the Skyway with only having luck catching a ton of bait fish was wondering if things are really heating up down there been tuning in my trolley fishing skills and was wondering if this technique at this time of year would produce any fish probably looking at maybe Friday night heading out to the South Pier been fishing this pier for several years but this will be the first time that I've actually set up a trolley rig any suggestions? I know about locating the rock piles an I actually have a few marked on my GPS that have produced some gags in the past. Just looking for some suggestions and by the way I drive a blacked-out 04 durango if anyone sees me out there.

Welcome to the Site. The Catching of Fish has been very slow for the Last Couple of Months. Since the Last 2 Rains that We have got, Fishing should be making a Rebound shortly. Mangrove(Grey)Snapper has been slowly coming back in the the Area Waters plus a Few Macks has made a showing as well. Gag Season is in Effect June 1st(next Thursday). Just keep tuned in to the Site for any Future Reports within the Tampa Bay Area. Good Luck.

One of my sources in the area says that he caught speckled trout, a kingfish, and more snapper and grouper not too long ago. He's also caught barracuda, cobia, bonito, sharks and other big fish off the pier in the past this time of year so they're definitely out there somewhere... The only very large fish caught while I was there recently were a couple big grouper, a Goliath, sharks, rays, and what I guess was a cobia because it mostly just peeled drag and shook it's head. Haven't personally seen kingfish as of late.
