Hi - I'll be down visiting my mother in Sarasota for a week during the last part of Nov and first part of Dec and was thinking about taking the ride up to the Skyway...I live in Massachusetts and fish for false albacore (you call them bonita) and bonito (another mackerel/tunoid I don't think you catch down there) from the rocks...but anyway, I read a blurb somewhere that albies/bonita can be caught from the skyway piers....what is usually the timing for these fish to show up there, and are they pretty reliable during that time frame? Thanks

I saw schools of them crashing bait yesterday at the north pier. Didn't see any caught today like I saw yesterday.

Thanks a lot - at least there is some access...and if all else fails, I've never fished the skyway and whatever I can catch (spanish macs, flounder, whatever) will be cool. I won't be bringing the heavier gear to fish for anything large, whether that means king macks, sharks etc (although since I now have sort of a home away from home to store stuff, I could pick something up if things are happening and I get really tempted)...but basically I'll have a little Shimano Stradic 5000FJ on a 7 1/2' St Croix Tidemaster travel rod...so it will have to be the smaller game for me (will also have a fly rod with me, in case some of the skyway causeways has opportunities for that)
