Webby & I Started Out at The SS Pier. Water was Cloudy & Churned Up due to the Wind at about 10-15mph. There were 1' Waves. There was Hardly any Bait before Sunrise. After Sunrise the Bait stayed on the Bayside of the Pier. Flipper of Course made His Appearance Clearing Out all of The Bait & Macks on the Gulf Side of the Pier Just Before Dawn. We started Fishing at Dawn & I Decided to Fish For a King and Caught a 17& 3/4" Mack. Webby also about the Same Time Caught a 17& 3/4" Mack. His Picture will Follow when he Adds His Thread. So I Kept Casting for a King & Then Bamm. The King Hit but there was No King. He hit The 3 1/2" King Spoon so Hard that it Broke the Hook Right Off with the Screw & Chewed up My 100lb Leader. (See the Pictures). We caught some smaller Macks & went down to the end of the Pier & gave up & then went to the North Side Pier because there was No Action. The North Side Pier by the Bait House was also Dirty with Sediment Washing into the Channel towards the Gulf. We then started Catching a Few Macks by walking down from the Bait House toward the Gate Shed. And then I ran in to a Long Time Friend named "Jimmy" that I have Fished with for about 20 - 25 Years. In the Back of His Truck was a Cooler Loaded with Nice Size Macks. A Few were over 20". They Looked Real Nice. I Fished a Little Longer and then it Died Down for Me then I left. Webby Kept Fishing. I Ended Up with 1 18" & 1 15" Mack. For Me it was another Great Day. Always Remember One Thing: A Good Day Fishing is Better than A Good Day at Work ! Tight Lines & Fill Those Buckets !

Sorry I couldn't make it this morning. But thanks for the report MM!
Per your report, do you think the macks are headed out the door and the Kings are not far behind them? Or was it the dirty water today that slowed things off? It is unreal how warm we still are in November, near 90. Either way, it seems the Kings are playing with you. Betcha have one by end of the week.

Guess I was right about the king. At least you got a shot at them and had some fun time.

dpagates: As long as the Water around here stays Warm, the Macks May not leave. Through out the 41 Years I have been down here, it has happened several times that the Macks did not leave because of the Water Temperature not Cooling Down. Remember this is the Gulf of Mexico & Not the Atlantic. Only Time will Tell. The Kings Teases Me, the Macks Loves Me & the Dolphins like to Tick Me Off because I won't Feed Them "Fish Bites".

ft86tt: I would Hate to Be Him & Swim around with a Spoon Hook in My Mouth. That would be Like Many People today Wearing Rings in Their Lips. LOL If I will ever Catch Him I will Know Him By the Hook. "Hey Mackerelman, Here is Your King & Hook".

I get so jealous seeing the awesome pics and great reports you gentleman post. Living in Lakeland, I can't make it to the pier as often as I'd like. The last time I went was mid-summer.
Thank you for posting pics, as I'm vicariously living through you guys dreaming of the day I can make it out again, hopefully this weekend.
Dying to eat some fresh macs.
Cheers.

I left with 5, but probably gave away 10 and when I left they were biting. It really heated up once the bait came to they other side of the pier. Right after you left, the guys behind us near he bathrooms hooked up with a king it nearly spooled them then got the line caught up in the bridge.
