I Normally Fish the Major, especially if it is in the mornings when it is cool. I also Fish the Minor in the Spring(Feb, March & April) and in the Fall(Sept, Oct & Nov) all because the air temperature is cooler than now & the water temperature is down in which attracts Most Varieties of Fish.

Thank you for info. Just wondering. Do you keep fishing journals after you fish? I know no two times fishing are the same but I am starting to notice some patterns and certain places based on location and time of the year?

I don't keep Fish Journals but I do Love eating Fish from the Tampa Bay Area. I have been fishing in & around Tampa Bay since 1974. At the Skyway Piers, I know from Past Experience that when Late February comes around & the Water Temperature gets to 65 degrees, it is time to catch Mackerel. I Most Times, Limit out within 2 hours. I have caught Mackerel 22" to 30" on the approach section of the pier in the Spring. When the Middle of September comes around and the Water Temperature is around 82 degrees then it is time to start Fishing for Grouper. Yes, there are Patterns; Certain Places at certain times of the year to Target certain Types of Fish on the Skyway Piers. You just remember them every year. Like in the Spring, Fish the approach areas of each of the Piers for Mackerel. In the fall, Fish around any Structure for Grouper. I have Free-lined bait since I was a small kid. We didn't have anyone putting in concrete or rocks for us Anglers to give Us an advantage on catching fish. Now that the State has Put in Rocks protecting the Pier Columns, Anglers can now have an extra place to catch several types of Fish. Tight Lines & Fill Your Buckets.
